Shawana Lachir, PhD

  • Postdoctoral Fellow

Hi, my name is Shawana. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Hood College where I studied sociology and law and criminal justice. I also earned my master’s degree in public policy at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I recently earned my doctoral degree in Public Policy program. I have a strong passion for racial justice, criminal justice, and equitable policies. I spend a good proportion of my time working on projects that focus on policing, racial equity, social movements, and racial equity in courts. My recent research focus is the devolvement of legal cynicism among adolescents as well as the impact of School Resource Officers. I am a first generation American. Fun fact: I love to hike, take photos, and protest.
