Dr. Joshua Bloom won the award for distinguished scholarship in social movements from ASA, honorable mention

Professor Joshua Bloom's article, "The Dynamics of Opportunity and Insurgent Practice: How Black Anti-Colonialists Compelled Truman to Advocate Civil Rights,” published in American Sociological Review. 80(2): 391-415, has won the Distinguished Scholarship Award in Collective Behavior & Social Movements, Honorable Mention, American Sociological Association.  Previous versions of the paper won best graduate student paper award from both the CBSM section and the Historical and Comparative Sociology section of the ASA.
